Finding your fit
A size label is only a starting point. Compare the waistband, rise and leg opening with a pair that already feels comfortable. Measurements are especially useful when shopping second-hand.
Try sitting, walking and bending your knees. A good fit should work through your day, not just in front of a mirror. Fabric composition also matters: rigid denim and denim with stretch can feel quite different.
Make it last
Read the care label before washing. Separate colours when needed, use an appropriate programme and avoid more detergent than the product recommends. Turn denim inside out to reduce surface abrasion.
Check seams, pockets and hems from time to time. A small repair is often easier before a worn area becomes a hole. Follow the care label for drying and allow clothes to dry fully before putting them away.
Keep it simple
Start with one comfortable pair and try it with clothes you already own. A plain shirt, knitwear or a light jacket can change the feeling of an outfit without a long shopping list.
Notice which combinations you actually reach for. Your everyday wardrobe should leave room for movement, weather and the things you do, rather than follow a fixed set of rules.
